Jharkhand
Jharkhand is an Indian state located in the Eastern region of India. It was established on 15-Nov-2000. The capital of the state is Ranchi. Jamshedpur is the largest city. The official language is Hindi. Additional official languages include Angika, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Bhumij, Ho, Kharia, Khortha, Kurmali, Kurukh, Magahi, Maithili, Mundari, Nagpuri, Odia, Santali, Urdu. Major rivers include Damodar, Subarnarekha, Barakar, Koel.
As per Census 2011, the total area of the state is 79,716 square kilometres, including 77,292 square kilometres of rural area and 2,424 square kilometres of urban area.
The state has a unicameral legislature with 14 Lok Sabha seats, 6 Rajya Sabha seats, 81 Vidhan Sabha seats. Judicial matters are handled by the Jharkhand High Court. Jharkhand shares borders with Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh.
