Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh is an Indian state located in the Central region of India. It was established on 26-Jan-1950. The capital of the state is Lucknow. The official language is Hindi. Additional official language includes Urdu. Major rivers include Ganga, Yamuna, Gomti, Ghaghra, Chambal, Betwa, Son, Ken.
As per Census 2011, the total area of the state is 240,928 square kilometres, including 233,366 square kilometres of rural area and 7,562 square kilometres of urban area.
The state has a bicameral legislature with 80 Lok Sabha seats, 31 Rajya Sabha seats, 403 Vidhan Sabha seats. Judicial matters are handled by the Allahabad High Court. Uttar Pradesh shares borders with Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, and has an international border with Nepal.
