Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand is an Indian state located in the Central region of India. It was established on 09-Nov-2000. The capital of the state is Dehradun in winter and Bhararisain in summer. Dehradun is the largest city. The official language is Hindi. Additional official language includes Sanskrit. Major rivers include Ganga, Yamuna, Alaknanda, Bhagirathi, Mandakini, Ramganga.

As per Census 2011, the total area of the state is 53,483 square kilometres, including 52,581 square kilometres of rural area and 902 square kilometres of urban area.

The state has a unicameral legislature with 5 Lok Sabha seats, 3 Rajya Sabha seats, 70 Vidhan Sabha seats. Judicial matters are handled by the Uttarakhand High Court. Uttarakhand shares borders with Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and has an international border with China, Nepal.
