Punjab
Punjab is an Indian state located in the Northern region of India. It was established on 01-Nov-1966. The capital of the state is Chandigarh. Ludhiana is the largest city. The official language is Punjabi. Major rivers include Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, Ghaggar.
As per Census 2011, the total area of the state is 50,362 square kilometres, including 47,847 square kilometres of rural area and 2,515 square kilometres of urban area.
The state has a unicameral legislature with 13 Lok Sabha seats, 7 Rajya Sabha seats, 117 Vidhan Sabha seats. Judicial matters are handled by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Punjab shares borders with Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu And Kashmir, and has an international border with Pakistan.
